Problems changing things on the theme
February 11, 2016, 05:52:44 PM
Hi

Sorry to be a problem child.

I cant find where the images for the on and off buttons are stored, the ones i found in the theme dont look like the ones that are showing.  I would like to replace them so our members can have the ones they are use to, if thats possible.

I really wish to separate the header from the menu buttons, I thought I had done that but clearly I did it incorrectly.

Sadly I think this is one of those times I dont think I am capable of doing what I wish to, without wanting to offend, am I able to pay to have the theme tweaked? and what sort of costs would it be?

many thanks
aura

For removing font awesome icons from boards just open scripts/theme.js and delete the following
Code: [Select]
$("img[src=\'"+smf_images_url+"/"+varianteurl+"off.png\'],img[src=\'"+smf_images_url+"/"+varianteurl+"new_none.png\']").replaceWith("<span style=\'opacity: 0.3;\' class=\'fa fa-comments fa-4x\'></span>");
$("img[src=\'"+smf_images_url+"/"+varianteurl+"on.png\'],img[src=\'"+smf_images_url+"/"+varianteurl+"on2.png\'],img[src=\'"+smf_images_url+"/"+varianteurl+"new_some.png\']").replaceWith("<span class=\'fa fa-comments fa-4x\'></span>");
$("img[src=\'"+smf_images_url+"/"+varianteurl+"redirect.png\'],img[src=\'"+smf_images_url+"/"+varianteurl+"new_redirect.png\']").replaceWith("<span class=\'fa fa-link fa-4x\'></span>");
We will add an option to disable them for our future themes.

There are a few ways to do the header thing. I'll assume that you added a really big image as you stated before.
Have you tried to increase the #header height in index.css?
Additionally in h1.forumtitle you can also increase the height.

Sadly I think this is one of those times I dont think I am capable of doing what I wish to, without wanting to offend, am I able to pay to have the theme tweaked? and what sort of costs would it be?

There's no need to do that, you bought the theme and you receive the proper support. That's why we don't want people to remove copyright, that's their free pass to support (at least for one year till they renew theme subscription .. or not)

Regards.

Thank you ...  will try those things  :)

regarding removing copywrite, I totally agree with you there, to me that is totally rude and I have no idea why people think its ok to do that.

Yeah, it's a shame. At least we haven't had too much issues with it  :D

Let me know how it went!

I still have the "font awesome icons" showing on the inside of the board, once you open a category and go to the board. (hope that makes sense)

Do I need to use another script?

In the topic list? those are added in there by default. You would have to remove them from MessageIndex.template.php

Code: (Remove) [Select]
<td class="status centertext">';
if ($topic['is_sticky'] || ($topic['is_sticky'] && $topic['is_locked']))
echo '
<i class="fa fa-thumb-tack fa-2x"></i>';
elseif ($topic['is_locked'])
echo '
<i class="fa fa-lock fa-2x"></i>';
elseif ($topic['new'] && $context['user']['is_logged'])
echo '
<i class="fa fa-comments fa-2x text-primary"></i>';
else
echo '
<i class="fa fa-comment fa-2x"></i>';
echo '
</td>

Code: (Search) [Select]
<th scope="col" class="first_th" width="4%">&nbsp;</th>
<th scope="col" class="hidden-xs" width="5%" colspan="2">&nbsp;</th>
Code: (Replace) [Select]
<th scope="col" class="first_th hidden-xs" width="5%" colspan="2">&nbsp;</th>

I do not understand, when you removed the code from theme.js those icons were supposed to go.
Have you tried to refresh again? Use ctrl + f5

I have tested this again and it works for me. Actually there's nothing else to do, just to remove the code from theme.js

Can you leave a link to your website?
